Director of the Mustard Seed Cafe

We are excited to announce the Director of the Mustard Seed Cafe! Here's a note from Michael:

After a lot of prayer and seeking wise counsel, we are excited to announce a new branch of the Mustard Seed Mission (themustardseedmission.org).

First, let me assure you that we will continue the ministry here in Nicaragua. While I focus on this new venture, Lisa will continue to build, equip, and lead teams to minister to the communities we have served for more than a decade.

While Lisa takes lead in Nicaragua, I will be serving as the Director of the Mustard Seed Cafe at City Station.  You may already know we were successful restaurant owners before our move to Nicaragua and preparing meals for mission teams is one of my favorite parts of our ministry. I’m looking forward to putting these passions and experiences to work at City Station.

From our new home office in the states, we believe communication and preparation with teams will be significantly easier and Lisa will travel to Nicaragua with groups as often as possible. We also anticipate living in the states will provide us new opportunities to share about what God is doing in Nicaragua and grow our partnerships.

Our move to Carrollton will put us within a short drive of three supporting churches. The kids are excited about deepening their friendships with those who have visited the farm on a mission trip as well as experiencing church community in their heart language. They’re also looking forward to experiencing things they can’t in Nicaragua, like hunting and fishing (and doing chores).

When we closed the doors of the original Mustard Seed Cafe in Oregon to build the Mustard Seed Mission in Nicaragua, we never would have guessed God would use this tool again to further grow the mission and ultimately His Kingdom.  We are excited about what God is doing in the life of Southern Hills and how this ministry expansion will not just impact Carrollton, but the ministry in Nicaragua.  We are thrilled God saw fit to include us in His work and we can’t wait to see where He takes it from here.
